Your wedding day is one of the most special days of your life, and choosing the right photographer to capture the memories is essential. With so many photographers available, it can be overwhelming to choose the right one. Hi my name is Kalina and I am wedding photographer based in Charlotte, NC with over three years of experience capturing these days for many couples. Here are my tips for you:
Make sure you have chosen your wedding venue so that your photographer can check on her availability.
1. Determine your photography style preference
Before you start searching for a wedding photographer, you should have an idea of what kind of photography style you want. Some photographers specialize in traditional, posed portraits, while others take a more photojournalistic approach and capture candid moments throughout the day. My style is a combination of both and I love to discuss with you and fiancé to make sure we are all in the same page.
2. Set a budget
Wedding photography is a way to remember your special day, so it’s essential to set a budget before you begin your search. Think about how much you’re willing to spend and make sure to include albums and beautiful framed prints for your home. Keep in mind that the cost of photography will depend on the experience and expertise of the photographer, as well as the amount of time they will spend capturing your big day. I offer several packages and I am happy to build a package that fits your budget for your big day.
3. Research potential photographers
Once you know your style preference and budget, set up an appointment either online or in person. As for me, I like to chat on the phone and if you decide to book with me we can set up meeting. I always like to communicate every step of the way from the beginning and meet you both to make sure that we can work on your wedding day.
4. During your meeting with your photographer, ask the following"
Once you have a shortlist of photographers, schedule a meeting or phone call with them. This is an opportunity to ask questions and get a better understanding of their work. In my website I address the answers to all of these questions, so make sure to visit https://www.weddingphotosbykal...
- What is your photography style? A combination of posed and journalistic style.
- Can you show me a full wedding album that you have shot? Yes you can visit my "work" are off my website
- Do you have backup equipment? Yes, I have two cameras and will bring a third one with plenty of batteries.
- What packages do you offer, and what do they include? I like to build a package for you.
5. View Sample wedding albums
Ask to see sample albums of their recent work. This will give you an idea of the quality of their work and the style of their photography. Look at the lighting, composition, and the photographer’s ability to capture moments. If you’re impressed with their work, you’re one step closer to choosing your photographer.
6. Make sure you feel comfortable with them
Your wedding photographer will be with you throughout your wedding day, so it’s essential that you feel comfortable with them. You should feel at ease with your photographer, and they should be able to put you at ease in front of the camera. If you’re not comfortable with them during your initial meeting, it’s unlikely that you’ll feel comfortable with them on your wedding day. For me at Wedding Photos by Kalina, I like to meet my couples in person and I offer a complimentary engagement or save the date session with my classic and luxury packages. During this time, I spend time getting to know you both and you can get to know me as well. Most of my couples hire me during their engagement sessions.Â
7. Review the contract
Before signing the contract, make sure you understand the terms and conditions. Read through the contract carefully and ask any questions you may have. Make sure you understand the payment terms, what is included in the package, and any additional costs. If you’re happy with the contract, sign it and start looking forward to your big day. For my contract you will see also a payment schedule so that you pay for your day on a monthly basis, you will receive all of the digital package and prints as well along with your albums!
I believe that I am the right photographer for those couples who let me be creative and capture those happy tears moments on their days. I look forward to working with you both!
